“There are currently more than 745 agro-forestry organizations, hundreds of commune People’s Committees and thousands of households and individuals managing and using more than 9,554,845 ha of land originated from agriculture and forest enterprises. However, only the land of agro-forestry with an area of 252 2,018,879 area, accounting for 22% has been checked, measured, demarcated, and recorded”.

The Institute for Environmental Science and Development (VESDEC) is a member of the Vietnam Association for Nature and Environment Protection (VACNE). Established in 2010, the VESDEC’s function and mission is evaluation on environmental impacts of development projects, assessment on strategic environment of policies and plans; environmental monitoring of localities and projects; environmental planning of urban, industrial and rural development; consultancy on environmental pollution control; research and consultancy on sustainable development; training on environmental science and technology; international cooperation in the fields of environment and development.

Hanoi, September 18 2018 - The concept of "just energy transition" is not strange in Europe and North America but remains relatively new in Asia. Broadly, the process involves not only environmental aspects but also socio-economic changes, which are all needed to push for the global energy transformation to reach the goals stipulated in the Paris Agreement. Developing clean energy projects while reducing fossil fuel-based plants that pollute the environment is an irreversible trend in the world, including Vietnam. However, the issue of securing employment for affected workers and communities so that the transition is peaceful and does not cause social unrest has not been properly considered.

In the afternoon of September 10, a delegation of the Central Commission for Propaganda and Training led by Mr. Vo Van Thuong, Member of the Politburo, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Commission for Propaganda and Training visited and worked with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) at its head office at 53 Nguyen Du, Hanoi.
