In the morning of May 19, 2018, in Hanoi, under sponsorship of VUSTA, the Vietnam Mechanics Association (VMA) has held closing and awarding ceremony of the 30th students National Mechanics Olympic contest.

Dr. Phan Tung Mau, Vice President of VUSTA, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Khiem, President of Vietnam Mechanical Association, Mr. Pham Xuan Anh, Vice Director of Construction University and all teachers and students who participated in contest 2018 attended the ceremony

The National Mechanics Olympic is an annual competition organized by the VMA in order to seek to foster young talents in the field of mechanics.

In 2018, the contest attracted 1,262 students from 39 universities, competing in 7 traditional writings: engineering mechanics, material durability, structural mechanics, hydraulics, soil mechanics, machine principles, machine parts, and 5 subjects of computer methods in applied mechanics, including: applied informatics in engineering mechanics, applied informatics in machine principles, applied informatics in machine parts, applied informatics in material durability and applied informatics in structural mechanics.

The Organizing Board have selected and awarded 205 students, including 15 first prizes, 65 second prizes and 125 third prizes. Among awarded students, the organizer also selected two best students for rewards from Nguyen Van Dao Mechanics Talent Fund; they are Nguyen Minh Nhat from Military Technical Academy who won 02 first prizes for both 2 subjects and Le Van Hung from  University of Transport who gained first prize with highest score.

Speaking at the ceremony, Dr. Phan Tung Mau, Vice President of VUSTA, warmly congratulated achievements of students and teachers in the 30th students National Mechanical Olympic contest and highly appreciated the VMA for its efforts to create and maintain a meaningful playing-field for students and teachers of the mechanics sector in nationwide during past 30 years. This playing-field has encouraged and motivated the young talents to cultivate their creativity, has laid a foundation for the next generation to become future scientists, to contribute to development of the country. Dr. Phan Tung Mau also emphasized that VUSTA always pays great attention to identifying and developing young talents in the field of science and technology and will continue to cooperate with member associations to organize Olympic competitions on physics, informatics, chemistry and “Loa Thanh Award” in the years to come.

The 2019 students National Mechanical Olympic competition will be held at Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
