Inspect and monitor the activities of self-help groups and the progress of the Vusta Component Project - Global Fund Project for Fighting HIV/AIDS in Can Tho

The monitoring group of The Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association( Vusta) headed by Professor-Academician Dang Vu Minh, Chairman of VUSTA and Doctor Vu Thi Van, Director of Vusta Component Project have visited and inspected the the progress of the project in Can Tho.

 Working with Huong Cau and Glink groups, Professor-Academician Dang Vu Minh acknowledged groups’ achieved results. Groups’ practical activities help members to gradually improve their capabilities, approach to community and bring project’s target members services and knowledge of prevention and reduction HIV infection risk in the community of people with HIV, people at high risk of HIV infection and gay men. Through these activities, members also know how to share difficulties in their groups’ activities.

Professor-Academician Dang Vu Minh also believed that by the support of Can Tho Union and groups’ efforts, the Project would get good results next time. In this period, the monitoring group also worked with Can Tho City HIV/AIDS Prevention Centre to give some measures to continue supporting self-help groups in the project of creating close relationship between the city’s HIV/AIDS Prevention Centre and Can Tho Union’s project management.  The monitoring group considered trained members of self-help groups the core of the city’s HIV prevention program after completing the project.
