Early since 1966, when our country was still waging a fierce war against US aggressors, the Vietnam mathematics Association had been officially established by a governmental decision. From that date up to now, the Association had embarked on a 40-year length of road - a not small stretch of time in the development full of changes of the country. It could be said that, the Vietnamese mathematicians community being quick witted, having somehow good traditions, is now confronted with not a few difficulties and challenges. Within the scope of this article, the authors sketch out some traits about the actual state of mathematics in our country for suggesting some reflections about it.
