The safe driving system consists of sensor, camera and crouch chain mounted on vehicle. The system can detect and warn risks to drivers. It can operate on all current kinds of cars.

Bui Dinh Nguyen Khoa said: "Traffic accidents are big problems of the society. Applying technology to machinery to create many functions to minimize drivers’ mistakes when participating in traffic is essential. Chu Thanh Tung and I thought so and we both came up with the idea and implemented it”.

The operation mechanism of the system includes driver's face recognition software, image scanning from the camera. When the driver falls asleep for 2 seconds, the software immediately encrypts and sends a signal to alert the bell.

According to Chu Thanh Tung, the safe driving system is a solution to improve safety while driving, minimize accidents caused by human. The safe driving system consists of sensor, cameras, and crouch chain mounted on vehicle to detect and warn risks to drivers and can operate on all current cars.

In the course of research, Mr. Ho Huu Son, the head teacher of mathematics and informatics of the school, instructed the two students to search information and collect data on camera and sensor, and use open source code to calculate and identify common accidents which often occur to drivers and vehicles. Then, the team used python (a multi-purpose open source code programming language with language and symbol in foreign language supporting programming styles for information technology ) and Opencv library (an open source code library with thousands of optimization algorithms providing a common toolkit for visual computing applications, image processing and study machine) to process images from the camera.

"We choose the above mentioned software system to activate and mount to the hardware product including 2 ultrasound sensors, two cameras, buzzer, 1 Arduinouno r3 chain, 1 Raspiberry pi 3 , 1 module l298, led light and motor, vibration motor. The advantage of this software is that its signal processing speed is relatively fast. If a car is installed with this smart device, drivers can notice risks faster. It can be integrated with any vehicle”, Khoa said.

In addition to the above features, the "safe driving assistance system" also alerts drivers when they don’t observe the road or travel in the wrong lane on highway. The smart light widens drivers’ vision when there is new turning with the most comprehensive view. It also records drivers’ mistakes. The disadvantage of the tested software is that it cannot operate when the camera is obscured.

Thanh Tung said: “The product is very convenient. It can be installed to any vehicle, from old or new family cars to buses and trucks. The cost of each product is quite cheap, VND 2-3 millions/product.”
