On23 of April in Hanoi, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Vietnam Journalist Association, the Vietnam Union of Literature and Art Associations co-held a seminar to share experience and discuss about the coordination among the three organizations in the coming time.

At present, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) with nearly 3 million members nationwide has the function of gathering and uniting Vietnamese science and technology intellectuals inside and outside the country; harmonizing, coordinating and guiding its member associations;  connecting member associations with the agencies of the Party, the State, the Vietnam Fatherland’s Front and other organizations in order to solve common problems.

VUSTA has the task of making recommendations to the Party and the State on major issues related to the guidelines, policies of the country development, especially in science and technology, education and training, intellectual policy; mobilization of Vietnamese science and technology intellectuals inside and outside the country to participate in specific activities, actively contributing to the cause of national development and defense.

In addition, VUSTA is assigned to proactively make the social consultancy and evaluation to provide  scientific and practical basis for planning and implementation of the guidelines, policies of the Party, the laws, strategies and plans for socio-economic development and important projects of the Government; to conduct scientific research and technological development, to transfer scientific and technological advances and apply them in production and life, to protect the environment and respond to global climate change; to popularize science and technology knowledge, to build learning society, to enhance people's knowledge and training human resources.

The Vietnam Union of Literature and Art Associations (VULA) is the organization representing more than 40 thousand artists of the country. In the Resolutions of the Party, the art and literature classes of Vietnam have expressed the spirit of companion, action for the benefit of the nation, maintained the revolutionary nature, fought with evil, promoted the nation development, built up the lifestyle of the Vietnamese people. The Association has actively implemented the Resolution 33 and Resolution 23 of the Politburo in the spirit of fostering patriotism, national pride, ethics, lifestyle and the personality; has built and developed artist team in both quantity and quality, interested in training, fostering young talents. The Association also promoted connections and exchanges of careers between generations to encourage the creative potential of artists. At the same time, researches of the Association oriented to renovate the theoretical works, art and literary criticism to make them more scientific, persuasive and effective.

The Vietnam Journalists Association is a political-social-professional organization established in 1950 with over 22,000 members, and more than 300 affiliated organizations and 828 press agencies. This is an organization defined in the Press Law 2016. The association aims are to gather, unite, protect the rights and legitimate interests of members; encourage creativity, dedication of journalists; to build an Association based on warmth of colleagues. The association is a place of connection, exchange, trust and sharing of members. This important, noble mission requires the strength of the organization, the quality of each staff who has strong political will, enthusiasm, rich ideas, devoted to the work ..., strives for the development of the revolutionary press of Vietnam that is increasingly professional, modern; provide well information and orientation for public opinion. The Association of Vietnamese Journalists has been growing steadily, constantly improving its position with the development of the press. Over the years, the Association has effectively implemented action programs, practical attractive and spreading activities, continued to raise the position, role, quality and efficiency of the operation at all levels.

At the seminar, the delegates confirmed that these three important associations, in the future need to seek for a strategic cooperation, share experience and information, work together on common issues that meet the demand of the society as well as interest of their respective members. One of the most important and urgent issue is the current draft Law on Associations that need the attention, well-prepared judgments and recommendations of the three associations to the drafting committee to make sure that the law is practical and in line with the direction of Politburo’s resolution on developing intellectuals of Vietnam.
