Scientific seminar "Industrial Revolution 4.0: Opportunities and challenges in agricultural production and agricultural product export in the Central Highlands"

On May 10, 2019 in Dak Lak Province, Dak Lak Province Association of Science and Technology Associations (DAKUSTA) in collaboration with the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA), Center for Tropical Forestry Research (TROPENBOS) and Nature and Human Center (PanNature) organized scientific seminar on "Industrial Revolution 4.0: Opportunities and challenges in agricultural production and agricultural product export in the Central Highlands".

Attending the seminar were the President of VUSTA, Prof. Dr. Sc. Dang Vu Minh; member of the Party Central Committee - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Tran Quoc Cuong; Vice Chairman of the People's Committee Y Giang Gry Nie Knong; representatives of the leaders of Union of Science and Technology Associations in the central and central highlands provinces; representatives of TROPENBOS and PanNature and representatives of departments and agencies throughout Dak Lak province.

Speech at the workshop, Dr. Vuong Huu Nhi - Chairman of the DAKUSTA affirmed: the Central Highlands is a strategic area in terms of politic, economy, society, ecological environment and security and national defense as well as high potentials and strengths for development.

10 papers were presented at the seminar on the following issues: some technologies were applied in agricultural production bringing economic efficiency; current situation, results and solutions of high technology application in the 4.0 industrial revolution in agricultural production in Dak Lak; discuss on the practical solutions of smart agriculture and agro-forestry to adapt to climate change in the Central Highlands; current situation of exporting Dalat flowers in Lam Dong in the era of technology 4.0; application of information technology in farm management of large sample fields in Dak Lak; smart agriculture with climate: a case of agricultural cooperatives and services of Binh Minh; agriculture 4.0: opportunities, challenges and development; the foundation to connect the supply and demand of agricultural products and safe food for Dak Lak province; application of 4.0 technology in sustainable-certified coffee production in the Central Highlands; application of useful microorganisms in sustainable agricultural production in the Central Highlands.

"If we want to use modern technology, we cannot keep small fields, we need to apply in large fields to be successful. At the first stage, it may not bring about high productivity, but after a period of successful technology application, it will create economic efficiency. The current agricultural cooperatives are much different from the previous ones, it is neccessary to encourage people to coordinate for creating a large field in order to apply high technology on that field”, Prof. Dr. Sc. Dang Vu Minh emphasized.
