Quang Nam province: Revision of the first six months and deployment of mission for the last six months of the year 2017

During the first six months, Quang Nam Union had actively deployed many efficient activities such as the participation of two associations as new member of Quang Nam Union which then increasing the total number of Quang Nam Union members to 17 associations; and the organization of many workshops, training courses relating to science and technology, and the fostering of intellectuals. The provincial union, in co-ordination with sectors, deployed the Pham Phu Thu Prize in science and technology for the second time (2017 – 2018), the seventh technical Innovation Contest (2016 – 2017), the tenth provincial Creation Contest for teenagers and children in year 2017 according to the assignment by province’s People’s Committee. Quang Nam Union prepared the content and participated in the work session with the investigation delegation from Ministry of Home Affairs and the People’s Committee of Quang Nam namely “Establishing the project on evaluating the last –five- year operation of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations, the Alliance of Arts and Literature Associations of Vietnam and the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations”. Moreover, Quang Nam Union also co-ordinated with Center for Sustainable Rural Development affiliated to VUSTA to implement the project “Improving livelihoods for farmers by applying the measure of medicinal plant growing and market development” in Phu Ninh district, Quang Nam province with the total cost of 172,002 EUR which will be implemented in three years (2017 – 2019); and signed the co-ordination program with the Committee of the Vietnamese Fatherland Front on the implementation of the campaign “People’s unification in building new countryside, urban civilization”.

For the upcoming six months of the year 2017, Quang Nam Union continues strengthening its organization and calling for the participation of intellectuals in the Union, and consolidates out-termed member unions which have not organized meeting as stipulated; developing the detail outline to implement the tasks of investigation and statistics for the building of intellectuals team whose members are Quang Nam’s citizens living all over the country to contribute in the prosperity of the province; and the launching of prizes, contests, and competitions as planned.

At the meeting, Mr. Huynh Duc Dung was appointed as member of Standing Committee, entitled as Vice President cum General Secretary of Quang Nam Union for the term 2016 – 2017 in replacing Mr. Nguyen Van Dieu who had moved to another workplace. Participants agreed to admit 02 new members unions which are Urban Planning Association and Nursing Association, and elected more 03 members for Standing Committee.
