On 9th April, the Phu Yen Union of Science and Technology Associations participated in the social consultancy of the project “The School Milk Program improves nutritional status, contributing to increase the stature of children in kindergarten and primary school to 2021 in the province of Phu Yen”.

Under the project, the implementation of the School Milk Program is the implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, in line with UNICEF's global priorities: early childhood care for survival, growth and development ... "School milk" is a step that concretizes the implementation of the National Strategy and Targets on Child Nutrition. The goal of this program is to improve the nutritional status of preschool and primary school children by giving children daily milk to reduce the rate of malnutrition, improve the stature and strength of children in Phu Yen province, contributing to the development of human resources in the future. At the same time, to raise awareness of the community, parents, educators about the importance of nutrition for the comprehensive development of stature, physical and mental well-being of children, especially meals and use appropriate dairy products by age group. The target of the project is that by 2021, 100% of kindergarten, grade 1, grade 2 of Group A children (children of poor families, policy families, orphans, martyrs, families with meritorious services to the revolution, ethnic minorities children) are given free milk; Non-A group students are supported 70%, the rest is paid by their parents.

Mr. Nguyen Hoai Son, President of the Phu Yen Union, said that it is necessary to clarify the necessity of the program, add some legal bases, pay attention to the target beneficiaries: Is orphaned- father children (illegitimate children) has been legally recognized is a beneficiary of the school milk program or not?, optimizing solutions for transporting and preserving school milk so that children can get access to this milk source.

The duration of the program is divided into 3 phases. Phase 1, the program will be implemented in the 2018-2019 school year in 9 districts, towns and cities for kindergarten children; Phase 2, the program will be implemented in 2019-2020 school year in 9 districts, towns and cities for kindergarten and first grade students; Phase 3, the school year 2020-2021, the program will be implemented in 9 districts, towns and cities for kindergarten children, students in grades 1 and 2. The standard amount per child under the project is three times a week, 180ml each time and nine months a year.
