Hanoi, July 20th 2017 - The Global Fund Supported Project on HIV/AIDS organized a workshop on boosting partnership among local social organizations and the administrative authorities under the framework of the VUSTA’s Unit Components Project Supported by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria.

Speaking at the workshop, Dr. Do Huu Thuy, an official of the Ministry of Health’s Vietnam Administration of HIV/AIDS Control stressed that local social organizations have recently played a vital in providing preventive services, healthcare, treatments and medical supports to the vulnerable HIV infected. Especially, the VNGOs have supported the authorities in rendering supplemental services to the areas which had been yet touched by public services. Yet, the present partnership remains uneven due to the stake holders’ unwilling collaboration and information sharing and the VNGOs’ financial challenge state.

According to PhD. Trinh Tien Dung, the former Head of National Administration Board cum Director Assistant of UNDP to Vietnam, the VNGOs should develop a sustainable partnership solution visioning their mandates, tasks and long run goals towards supporting the Nation’s Development and Prosperity Plan. As well, the VUSTA should be the bridge linking the governmental authorities and the VNGOs for conducting researches, training and capacity building, information sharing and policy advocacy, fund raining showcasing and networking… in the area of the HIV/AIDS control.

The workshop affirmed that the GO-VNGOs partnership is a must and there would be enormous room for further expansion in the future in Vietnam.
