4 essential weaknesses of Vietnam in the East Sea and Chinese conspiracy

Pointing 4 essential weaknesses of Vietnam in the East Sea, Mr. Doan Manh Dung, Deputy Chairman - General Secretary of Sea Association Ho Chi Minh city, former Chief Seaport Infrastructure of Vietnam Maritime Administration analysis: "Cannot compete with knowledge, dictatorships tend to expand territory. This is the cause of unrest from China that mankind is worried. Vietnam is the weakest link for Chinese expansion strategy implementation to the south ..."

Reporter had a conversation with Mr. Dung about this issue.

You have researched and made four essential weakness of Vietnam on the East Sea? What are they determined based on?

Mr. Doan Manh Dung: Four essential weaknesses protect Vietnam territory from the sea in order: Cam Ranh, Son Duong, Nam Du and Con Dao. Previously I said that only 3 points, but after the Viking ship was attacked and broke up the cable that needs to use Con Dao for the protective role of oil and gas regions.

Four essential weaknesses points are identified based on natural geographical factors. Because of a small, poor country, everything from construction to protection of the country must know how to use the natural geographical features. Vietnam Navy has military bases strong enough to defense and attack. The naval bases must have a minimum depth of 10m, width of water surface capable of receiving many military vessels, with high mountains to shield and favorable logistics supply. And the collaboration with foreign partners in economic development of the above weaknesses need fastened demand if patriotic war happens

More details please, sir?

First of all, we need to know the natural characteristics that influence marine over the East Sea. Due to the flow and the monsoon, in winter, ships from the North to the South East Sea have to move closely the coast of central Vietnam (green line - picture below). Also from the South to the North, the ships go away from the central coast to avoid reverse currents (red lines).

In the Southwest monsoon period, whether from North to South or from South to North, they are traveling with a same route (black line). Because sea storm swirling counter-clockwise, so when encountering the storms, the boats tend to be pushed into the coast of Vietnam.

Due to the natural characteristics, ship owners through the East Sea are keen to have the support from Vietnam when something goes wrong. This is the reason we discovered many wrecks boats which sank centuries ago near the coast of Central and South.

The route from Van Phong bay to Cam Ranh port is the nearest coastline to international maritime route.

Cam Ranh port (position 3) has broad waters, tight waves, deep water -20m and has 2 doors that easy to control. High mountains surrounding the port, so it is difficult to attack. It can receive at the same time the most modern warships. So Cam Ranh Bay is the best naval base in Southeast Asia. From here, mini diesel submarine is enough sufficient concern for the large ships in the East Sea. Cam Ranh Bay is worthy naval center of Vietnam Navy and is the essential control of the East Sea.

In North Bay is Son Duong port which is located in the south of Vung Ang of Ha Tinh. It has a special position (position 4).

This position is the same latitude with Sanya port, with the atomic fleet of China. Son Duong port location is located just north of Ngang mountain pass where the Highway 1A road passes through the mountains and tunnels. Depth of Son Duong port after building dikes 3,000 meters from Ron Island to Son Duong port area enclosed storm and reached a depth of -16m to over broad waters.

So, Son Duong port is the essential of the North Bay, controlled sea and road from South and Central supplies to North Vietnam.

On the south coast, Con Dao has unicorn shaped, back towards the Southwest - Northeast, looking to the East (position 5).

Eastern coasts, the waters are shallow. But Southwest of Con Dao is Ben Dam. The Northeast of Ben Dam has Cross Mountain with 577m height; the southwest is Hon Ba with 242m height, while the south is Hon Bo with 324m height. Ben Dam depth is quite ideal -13m, sheltered Northeast and Southwest winds, favorable for a deep water port for naval and commercial. This location is close to the international sea route through the Southern seas.

This is the weakness of the Southern coast. If Vietnam has a strong naval base in here, it will help control the sea route to the coast of South Vietnam and the keeping safety for the oil fields in the Southeast.

In Thailand Bay, the coast continental shelf of Rach Gia - Ha Tien is very shallow. The construction of artificial deepwater port in this area is very expensive, especially the cost of maintenance.

Nam Du archipelagos located between the road from Phu Quoc to Ca Mau, about 50km from the coast (position 6). Natural depth between Nam Du archipelagos is -10m, with 309m high mountains in the west. The island in the East covered Northeast monsoon. So this area is suitable for mooring boats, favorable for a best naval port in the southwest coast of Vietnam. Nam Du archipelagos are the weakness that protect Southwest coast of Vietnam.

When the Kra canal of Thailan is opened, the Nam Du archipelagos position becomes more important in the protection of international maritime channels across the Gulf of Thailand.

Pointing 4 essential weaknesses of Vietnam in the East Sea, How is it understood and meaning, sir?

According to the book “Tu Ma Chronicles” - Page 669 - Literature Publishing House - in 2003, the year 111 BC, The Chinese troops attacked Vietnam. Vietnam's King was Kien Duc, descendant of Uy Da and General Lu Gia "took the boat to the West". Captain Tu Ma To Hoang was a Vietnamese who surrendered Han captured Kien Duc "."A Vietnamese mandarin was Do Ke captured Lu Gia".

General Lu Gia named a street in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

Thus, from the ancient, enemy from the North who wanted to take over Vietnamese had to use the sea and Vietnamese traitors. The paragraphs described Lu Gia "took a boat to the West" proved that the old capital of Vietnam was in the region of Hong Kong - Guangzhou. The strategy for the invasion of the Han unchanged for over 2,000 years and was based on two basic factors: bribed Vietnamese people to make internal factors and marine.

The later invasion of the North, or Siam, France and the US also started from the sea.

Currently the world is entering a new civilization. It is the economy knowledge. Democratic countries which accept market economy, they focus to put the gray matter in goods or services in order to compete. And in countries with totalitarian or authoritarian tradition, most of the wealthy is selling resources.

These giants, they cannot compete with the knowledge so dictatorships or totalitarian tradition tends to expand the territory. That's unrest in China that all mankind is worried.

Vietnam is the weakest link for Chinese expansion strategy implementation to the south. The weakness was not only in the economic dependency but also in ideologies. It is the pain that those who can read a book would concern.

To resist the expansion of China, the first is to raise the people’s knowledge. Second is the need to build strong naval bases to control the entire coastline. Chinese lesson brought genocidal policies in the late 1970s in Cambodia has shown us not only to defend the East Coast but also the South West coast.

From a long time ago, enemy from the North who wanted to take over Vietnam have to use the sea and Vietnamese traitor. Throughout time there always have people like Ma To Hoang, Do Ke, Tran Ich Tac, Le Chieu Thong ... so we should be always vigilant.

With this point of view, the positioning of the main naval base in Vietnam should be researched seriously.

China has increasingly expanded on the East Coast with many actions such as building artificial islands, exploration and exploitation oil and gas production in deep water, borrowed guise of the geological survey research, archaeological research ... Four weaknesses that you have identified, do they have any significant, effect in protecting the island territory of Vietnam?

China is building islands in Hoang Sa and Truong Sa where is gradually wanted to disable Cam Ranh. Their goal is the oil resources, fisheries and maritime control of the East Sea.

But the East coast has a very special feature, that is the vessel in stalls, or have drifted, it pushed into the coast of central Vietnam in nine months in January, February, March, April, August, September, October, November, December. It was a frightening danger of the Chinese navy in the sea if there is war with Vietnam.

In addition to actions seeking to disable Cam Ranh, China has shown very clearly in the conspiracy to possess Son Duong - Ha Tinh in form of investment.

Nam Du archipelagos will serve as the control of Kra Canal line in the future, China goes through Vietnam enterprises to disable it by economic projects

Because of the Oilfield in southeastern coast, so we should invest in Con Dao.

The maritime in Vietnam are also anxious to hear foreign businesses which are operated by   China seek the way to Van Phong Bay.

Throughout time, there always have people like Ma To Hoang, Do Ke, Tran Ich Tac, Le Chieu Thong ... so we should be always vigilant. We are not against China but we need to understand China and behave appropriately. Only when true democracy comes to the Chinese people, the anxiety could be ease!

Thank you so much!
