Thai Binh Union of Science and Technology Associations organized training on health care for rural women

From April 6-12, 2018, Thai Binh Union of Science and Technology Associations has organized training courses on early detection of common cancers for about 1,200 rural women from 8 districts of the province.

The training courses have provided knowledge and basic skills on identification and early detection of common cancer diseases such as breast cancer, colorectal cancer, endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer. These are diseases with high morbidity and mortality among women and those have different pathogenesis and can occur to any women. In these training courses, participants were not only provided knowledge on self-detection of cancer but also received counseling and guidelines on necessary procedures for medical tests in order to early diagnosis and effective treatment.

Additionally, trainers also talked about psychology status that a cancer patient might face, shared on health care methods for cancer patients that family members need to know, on knowledge and basic skills to deal with complications of cancers at the last stage, as well as spiritual therapies to help cancer patients live positively to mitigate influence of cancer.

These training courses brought large benefits for participants and their family on cancer prevention, particularly in cancer self-detection, self care and in changing behaviour for seeking early cancer detection services (as periodic health examination, cancer screening, etc). It will contribute to reduce morbidity and mortality rates of these deadly diseases and to success of community cancer prevention program.
