HCM City Marine Association contributes to economic development

The Ho Chi Minh City Marine Economics, Scientific and Technological Association (HOMASTE) has made great contributions to the development of Vietnam’s marine economy.

This was affirmed by a report presented at the Second Congress of the HOMASTE, which was organised on November 15 in Ho Chi Minh City.

Accordingly, the association has had various activities such as talks about Vietnam’s sea and islands, exchange programmes with naval soldiers who are protecting the country’s sovereignty. The HOMASTE has also organised workshops on promoting marine economy in Can Tho, Soc Trang, Vung Tau etc.

In addition, the HOMASTE has worked closely with media agencies to boost the communications of Vietnam’s sovereignty over the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelagos.

Also at the congress, the executive board discussed orientation for the 2014-2019 tenure, with a focus on increasing the quality of constancy, judgement and social expertise and promoting the communications of the Party and State’s policies on Vietnam’s marine strategy and sovereignty over its sea and islands.

The congress elected Rear Admiral Le Ke Lam as HOMASTE’s President for the 2014-2019 tenure.

The Ho Chi Minh City Marine Economics, Scientific and Technological Association was established in 2009 with 200 individual members and 14 member organisations.
