Some inputs related to the current updated version of Law on Associations

The draft Law on Associations issued on 10th October 2016 is the most updated version submitted by National Assembly’s Standing Committee for discussion and endorsement in the coming November. However, it is noteworthy that some important comments which were taken and updated into previous versions after a number of discussions have been changed dramatically in the current draft version (dated 16th September 2016). At the moments, National Assembly delegations from provinces and cities are starting their consultation processes which is open for organizations, individuals and associations.

VUSTA aimed to boost partnership with Japanese counterparts

To implement the resolution of the VII National Congress of VUSTA in the period 2015-2020, VUSTA aimed to extend its international cooperation with Asian partners in Japan, South Korea and member countries of ASEAN. In realizing the 2016 action plan of VUSTA, a delegation headed by VUSTA’s Vice President Nghiem Vu Khai went to Japan from 11 to 16 of September.

In more than 30 years of establishment and development, through 6 Congresses, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations (VUSTA) has gradually asserted its position and important roles of a socio-political organization with a system from the central union to provincial and municipal unions. The organizational systems of the central union and provincial and municipal unions have been strengthened, enhanced and constantly developed. To date, VUSTA has 141 member associations (78 national Science and Technology associations and 63 province/city’s unions) with over 2.5 million members.

On 16 March 2016, the Government issued Decree No.16/2016/ND-CP on Management and Utilization of Official Development Assistance (ODA) and Concessional Loans of Foreign Donors concessional loans as a replacement for Decree No. 38/2013/ND-CP dated 23 April 2013.

After nearly 30 years of restoration of Phu Yen province (1989-2016), despite many difficulties and challenges of socio-economic conditions, thanks to the attention of the provincial leaders to development of qualified and professional human resources, the provincial science and technology intelligentsia has thrived in quantity, improving in quality and having made important contributions to the construction and development of the homeland and the country. These general achievements result from the coordination in science and technology activities between the Provincial Union and the Department of Science and Technology in accordance with the functions and duties of each unit which are increasingly abundant, diverse, and flexible and create practical effects.
